CosRx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence Review

CosRx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence Review

I am here today with a review of the CosRx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence, a popular Korean skincare product. It uses snail mucin as its main ingredient and is meant to eliminate issues like dull skin, rough texture, dark spots, acne scars, and skin damage. I must be the last skincare blogger to review this product. But as some of you may already know, I have super sensitive skin so I need to be extra cautious when it comes to new ingredients. It is not just about my skin sensitivity, it is also about not wanting to waste money on something I am uncertain about. Anyways, after gathering my courage and tried this cult favourite and I am here to share my experience.

If you have sensitive skin like me, it is advisable to do a patch test first, as some people might be allergic to snail mucin.

Snail mucin offers multiple skincare benefits, including reducing lines and wrinkles, hydrating, soothing, boosting elastin and collagen, repairing the skin barrier, and promoting cell regeneration. This product has a high 96.3% snail secretion filtrate, which is lightweight and quickly absorbs into the skin, giving a natural glow and all day moisture.

100ml – 1450rs | 30ml – 655rs. You can grab these on sale for 800+.

Fades dark spots
Improves skin texture
Intense hydration

Cosrx snail mucin is non comedogenic and has soothing and healing properties. It helps calm redness, prevent new breakouts and also fade pigmentation, acne scarring, dark spots and marks.

Since this is an essence, you can use it after cleansing and toning your skin. Pat, pat, pat until its absorbed. Use 1-2 pumps depending on how your skin feels. Follow up with your serum and moisturiser to complete the skincare routine.

Update – I dilute The Ordinary Vitamin C with this because 23% is too strong for my sensitive skin. I experimented by mixing it with other skincare products, but I prefer using this combination.

The first part of this Cosrx snail mucin review focuses on analyzing its ingredients. Let us understand why it is so effective.

1. 96.3% snail secretion filtrate which deliver rich nourishment through quick absorption.
2. 1,000 ppm sodium hyaluronate has a plumping and soothing effect.

Skin Type – Normal Sensitive

I have been using retinol and lactic acid in my skincare routine for some time now. Although these ingredients have proven to be great at what they do, my skin looking flushed and in need of something extra to soothe the redness and repair the damaged skin barrier. I had heard so much about this essence in the online community and its ability to hydrate, smooth and repair the skin, that I decided to give it a try.

The essence did not contain any fragrance, essential oils, or alcohol, making it the perfect match for my sensitive skin. A little goes a long way with this product, a single pump is all I need for my entire face. Although it has a slimy texture, the essence is very thin and absorbs quickly into my skin, leaving no sticky residue. If I do not use a moisturiser after applying the essence, my skin starts to feel tight and dry within an hour.

As I mentioned earlier, I also use this in my morning routine to dilute The ordinary 23% Vitamin C suspension which has been my go-to vitamin c this year.

cosrx snail mucin review

As it turns out, the snail mucin essence is not a magic potion that will instantly transform your skin. And as the days passed, I began to notice a subtle transformation in my skin. The redness from retinol use began to fade. The essence seemed to work by promoting wound healing and repairing the barrier of my skin. I use this along with my Purito centella soothing toner and Bioderma atoderm intensive baume moisturiser.

If you already have a good skin barrier, the effects of the essence may not be as noticeable as it primarily increases hydration levels. But for me and those with a compromised skin barrier, this product is something that works as promised in healing the skin. Nothing less, Nothing more.

I am impressed with the Cosrx snail mucin essence and its ability to soothe and repair my sensitive skin. It has become a staple in my skincare routine and I have no intention of giving it up anytime soon.

    • Generally, a concentration of 0.1% to 2% sodium hyaluronate is commonly used in skincare products. However, the optimal percentage may depend on factors such as the product’s formulation, the skin type, and the intended use.

    • Hello, If a skin product smells bad and becomes non-transparent, it usually means that it has expired or been contaminated, and using such products can potentially cause skin irritation, thus it is recommended to stop using them.

    • Hi Sanyogita, Snail mucin is usually safe to use and doesn’t have any known bad effects. I personally have sensitive skin, and it has worked well for me without causing any issues. If you’re unsure about buying the full-sized bottle right away, you can try purchasing samples from Instagram sellers before making a decision. This way, you can test it out on a small scale and see if it suits your skin before committing to a larger purchase.
