UV Doux Silicone Sunscreen Gel SPF 50 Review

UV doux sunscreen gel review

Hey guys, Today I am here to share my experience on the UVDOUX sunscreen. While I have been using mineral sunscreens for a while, they are expensive, which has been too much burden on my poor wallet. Also, they do have a white cast and rubbing it in irritates my sensitive skin. So I am now back to trying out chemical sunscreens hoping to finally find a holy grail product that works for me.

If you are interested, I have compiled a list of The Best Mineral Sunscreens of 2023 and the Best Sunscreen For Oily Skin 2023 Here. Hopefully, it helps you out.

✅ WHAT MAKES UVDOUX SUNSCREEN SPECIAL

It makes use of UV filters like Zinc Oxide, Titanium Dioxide, and Bemotrizinol that stay on the skin’s surface and don’t get absorbed. This sunscreen is also free from harmful UV filters like Avobenzone, Mexoryl SX, Octinoxate, Oxybenzone, and PABA. These features mean it does not disrupt the hormone system or have any adverse long term effects.

SKIP the UV Doux SPF 30 lotion, it contains the above mentioned Not-So-Good UV filters.

My Experience

Skin Type – Normal Sensitive

Let us now get on with the Uv Doux Sunscreen gel review. Uv Doux Sunscreen gel provides complete protection from the harmful UV rays of the sun. This is because of the perfect combination of chemical and physical UV blockers.

PACKAGING- The sunscreen comes in a tube packaging which is certainly convenient. It also has a nozzle so there will not be any product wastage.

TEXTURE – With its kind of silky/velvety texture, this sunscreen gel is exceptionally light on the skin.

CONSISTENCY, WHITE CAST & FINISH

The gel, although looks thick, spreads smoothly and absorbs quickly, like Re’equil’s mattifying sunscreen. It leaves no white cast and offers a matte, velvety finish that remains non sticky and non greasy all day.

Reapplication might be a problem for silicone sunscreens since it feels to cakey. I use a sunscreen stick so it does not bother me at all.

PROBLEM

There are 2 main problems that I faced with this sunscreen. It is probably related to my sensitive skin though. I am noting it down since it may be of help to some of you with the same skin type as mine.

⛔ STINGS MY EYES

While this sunscreen did not cause my eyes to water, it still left my eyes feeling uncomfortable. So I no longer apply it to my eyelids. Perhaps my sensitive skin reacted to the fragrance, preservatives, or even the zinc content.

Update as of 04/12/21 – The second tube no longer irritates my eyes, and the texture is lighter and airier than before, which is great 🙂 Although there have been no changes to the ingredient list, it appears that they have improved the quality.

⛔ REDNESS AND ITCHING

Whenever I use this sunscreen with actives like niacinamide or alpha arbutin, my sensitive skin feels tingly and itchy. I can see some redness in the area too. All these fades away in 15-20 minutes though. It is very puzzling because I had no issues with the first tube of sunscreen, and I am unsure what is causing this reaction. If you have sensitive skin like me, I recommend performing a patch test while applying this sunscreen over actives.

PROS

  • Provides complete protection from UV rays with SPF 50+++
  • Prevents sun tan
  • Pleasant fragrance that goes away in a minute
  • No breakouts or irritations
  • Velvety and silky texture
  • Spreads easily and gets absorbed quickly
  • Non greasy
  • Non sticky
  • Matte finish with velvety feel on skin
  • Can be layered under makeup
  • No balling or piling off
  • Easy to reapply
  • Pretty affordable, comes on sale price too
  • Convenient tube packaging
  • Easily available online
  • Suitable for all skin types

Not consistent in texture and finish. Second purchase had an improved texture and finish. This is a good thing, right?

CONS

  • Contains artificial fragrance and silicones
  • Makes my sensitive skin itchy when used with an actives
  • May not suit dry skin and sensitive skin

DO I RECOMMEND THIS SUNSCREEN?

Yes, It is suitable for oily/combination/normal skin. It is one of the best sunscreens I have used in terms of texture and finish. No oiliness or white cast at all. This may not suit people with sensitive skin though. 🙁

REPURCHASE

Regrettably, this sunscreen is not suitable for me. It contains Octinoxate and fragrance, which are not good for my sensitive skin over the long term. Additionally, when used with an active serum, it caused redness and itching on my sensitive skin, which is certainly not a good sign.

RATING – 3.5/5

    • Hi Alisha, No, This sunscreen does not wash off with plain water.
You need to use a cleanser/makeup remover/oil to remove any water resistant or physical sunscreen completely.
