Korean beauty brands have taken the lead in formulating sunscreens that not only offer excellent sun protection and remarkable texture but also provide additional skincare benefits. This dedication to crafting advanced and multifunctional sunscreens has made Korean beauty brands a popular choice among skincare enthusiasts worldwide. The Beauty of Joseon sunscreen stick is no exception. It boasts soothing ingredients like panthenol, centella asiatica, and hyaluronic acid, along with artemisia capillaris and green tea extract, making it a promising option for both sun protection and skin nourishment.
If you’re new to my blog, you may not know that I am a big fan of the Beauty of Joseon sunscreen. So naturally, when they released their new sunscreen stick, I had high expectations. In this blog post, we’ll delve into the key features of the Beauty of Joseon sunscreen stick, examine its application, performance, and suitability for various skin types. Let’s see if it lives up to the standards set by its predecessor!
BRAND CLAIMS
Introducing our engineered sun stick featuring a matte formula that glides smoothly, delivering a non-clumpy, non-greasy finish, even when applied over makeup. We have harnessed the power of sebum-control silica powder to regulate oil production, providing an adherence boost and a velvety, matte texture. Enriched with artemisia capillaris and green tea extracts, it not only enhances skin texture but also keeps it adequately hydrated.
Enjoy the benefits of a non-greasy, matte sun stick that eliminates any oily or sticky sensations. Its convenient stick format allows hygienic application without the need for hands, making it perfect for on-the-go use anytime, anywhere. Thanks to the porous sebum-control silica powder, your skin will experience a smooth and soft-rolling sensation, free from any unwanted greasiness.
PACKAGING
The sun stick is presented in a compact, twist-up tube format, which I find adorable. Although it’s smaller than I imagined, its performance more than makes up for the size.
The sun stick comes in a rectangular design. This unique shape offers convenience during reapplication, easily reaching all parts of the face without any difficulty.
FRAGRANCE
The Beauty of Joseon sun stick is fragrance-free, making it a suitable choice for sensitive skin.

BEAUTY OF JOSEON SUNSCREEN INGREDIENTS
Beauty of Joseon sun stick is formulated without the 6 controversial UV filters, opting for safe and modern UV filters instead. This makes it a safe and suitable choice even for use during pregnancy. What adds to its appeal is the fact that, this sun stick is matte as claimed and is super affordable too.
In contrast, some of its counterparts contain at least one of the 6 controversial UV filters. For example, Isntree contains homosalate, known as a hormone disruptor, while Tocobo sunstick contains Oxinoxate, which triggers allergic reactions on my sensitive skin. On the other hand, the sunscreens with safe filters that I found were heavy and greasy, making my skin feel suffocated underneath.
Overall, the Beauty of Joseon sun stick not only meets its claims but also stands out as an affordable and safe choice, addressing the issues I encountered with other sunscreens.
REVIEW
Skin Type – Normal Sensitive
The formula is matte and contains soothing ingredients like centella asiatica, panthenol, and hyaluronic acid. While the size is a bit smaller than I initially expected, its budget-friendly price and frequent sales make up for it.
TEXTURE | WHITECAST
At first touch, it feels a bit waxy, but that doesn’t take away from its overall performance. Upon application, it feels soft and smooth on the skin without any irritation or residue. There’s no fragrance or white cast which makes it perfect for my sensitive skin. The sun stick’s non-oily and non-greasy formula effectively controls oiliness throughout the day.
BREAKOUTS | SKIN IRRITATIONS
Despite not having oily skin, I use heavy moisturizers (occlusives) to heal my sore, peeling skin from retinol use. Surprisingly, the sun stick doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight or stretched, and it’s remarkably lightweight. It hasn’t caused any clogged pores or breakouts, making it ideal for my sensitive skin. Overall, it’s a fantastic addition to my skincare routine.
SWEAT RESISTANT | WATERPROOF
While the sun stick is sufficiently effective for daily use, it’s worth noting that it doesn’t claim to be waterproof or sweat resistant.
SOOTHES REDNESS?
It could be just my personal experience, but I’ve noticed that whenever my sensitive skin looks flushed and feels warm after massaging the primary sunscreen, applying this sun stick over it brings a calming effect within 5-7 minutes. Indeed, products like Physiogel, Purito, and Cosrx relief creams are effective, but they don’t offer the same rapid calming effect that I’ve experienced with this sun stick. If you have sensitive skin like me, I highly recommend giving this sun stick a try. It might just become your new skincare favourite.
NEGATIVE POINTS🤔
Although the quantity of the product falls short of my hopes, I’m willing to look past that due to its other positive aspects. It’s worth mentioning that its matte finish can cause makeup to slide around more than other sun sticks. If you have dry skin, this might not be the ideal choice as the matte nature could aggravate dryness. It is important to note that this product is not fungal acne safe which is quite disappointing.
