Welcome back guys, Hope you are ready for another engaging post with me. Today I am back with the Dove Hair Mask Review. So what are hair masks and do we really need them. Well, Hair masks are deep conditioning treatments used to maintain healthy hair. They do help in reducing dryness and frizz by moisturising the hair and help repair cuticles that is damaged from consistent heat styling and chemical treatments. You can feel the difference in the first use itself, the shine and softness is very much noticeable. There are also protein masks available which can help strengthen hair, restore elasticity and thus minimise breakage.
So Let us start the review, happy reading.
WHAT YOU NEED TO REMEMBER
Choose a hair mask according to the needs of your hair. Does your hair need protein or moisture?
Always apply the hair mask on damp hair for best results.
Avoid overusing the product since it could leave your hair greasy and limp.
Use a hot towel wrap, shower cap or spa cap to let the product penetrate better.
Follow the instructions carefully, keeping the hair mask longer does not necessarily mean better.
Rinse thoroughly especially those with fine hair to prevent limp hair and product build up.
Tired of frizz that leaves your hair looking unmanageable and dry? Does tangled hair lead to hair breakage? Look no further. Everyday damage can stress hair strands, leaving them weak and prone to breakage and causes hair fall. Dove Healthy Ritual for Strengthening Hair is inspired by the rituals of Nordic women and infused with the goodness of oat milk and honey; natural ingredients that are known for their moisturising and strengthening properties.
Dove borrowed this healthy ritual and created the new Healthy Ritual for Strengthening Hair. Combined with the superior care of Dove, the hair mask formula instantly smoothens out the hair surface, preventing frizz and keeps hair looking smooth and shiny. It works to reduce frizz, making hair appear smooth and controls fly away hair. Due to the strands being smooth, they detangle easily, minimising breakage and letting your hair look healthy and smooth.
HOW TO USE
The time I have mentioned here is what works for my hair, it could be different for everybody. So play around and find out what works for your hair 5, 15 or 30 minutes. It all depends on your hair type and the extent of its health or should I say damage.
If you want to use this hair mask as a pre-shampoo mask, mist your hair with water so that it is slightly damp. Divide you hair into multiple sections. Take a dollop of hair mask on your palm. Spread it evenly with your fingertips focusing mainly on the ends as they tend to need more attention. Leave the mask on for 30 minutes before rinsing. Shampoo and condition as usual.
POST SHAMPOO MASK
Shampoo and condition your hair to cleanse it off dirt, sweat and grime. Make sure there is no product build up. Squeeze all the extra water. Depending on your hair length and thickness, take the required amount of hair mask on your palm. Apply it evenly with your finger tips and wait for 5 minutes before rinsing it off.
Do not overuse since the hair mask could weigh down your hair and make it look greasy.
ABOUT MY HAIR TYPE
I have hip length straight thicker hair but it flies with a light breeze or when under the fan. Since I tie my hair in buns and braids quite a lot, it does appear to be wavy most of the time.
Oiling once a week does help add moisture and I love using Yao rice water. It helped regrow and thicken my hair during those hair fall days. I have been searching for an instant hair mask for my hair. That is when I came across this product on reddit and many users were raving on its effectiveness. Since this product was on sale, I decided to give it a try. Without further adieu, let us begin todays Dove hair mask review.
The first time I used this hair mask on dry hair since I did not read the instructions which by the way is stuck to the bottom of the tub. Once rinsed out, my hair definitely felt so soft with no tangles whatsoever. The effects at this point felt similar to a conditioner. Once air dried, my hair felt soft, and fluffy. The hair felt more manageable than usual and it did not weigh down my hair. The effects stayed for 2-3 days if not more plus my hair smelled nice too.
The second time I applied the hair mask on damp hair as advised by the brand, Honestly, there wasn’t much of a difference. Whether on dry or damp hair, I got the same results. I did keep the mask on for 30 minutes after which I shampooed and conditioned like I usually do.
My hair is not damaged and is in good shape, but I think using this hair mask could be good if your hair needs some moisture. You should check if your hair needs moisture or protein by doing a hair test first. If you have damaged hair, try applying the mask with a spa cap or a warm towel. The added heat makes the mask work better by opening up your hair cuticles.
Even though the brand says to use the hair mask 2-3 times a week, I use it once a week because that is enough for my hair.
