Inveda Cleansing Oil Review | Oil Based Cleanser

Inveda cleansing oil review

A cleansing oil or cleansing balm is the first step in the double cleansing method. The double cleansing method helps you get rid of makeup, sebum, grime and sunscreen completely leaving your skin clean and ready for the next step. Cleansing oils usually have oils like jojoba or olive oil as its base to clean the skin, along with emulsifying ingredients that help the oil mix with water and be easily rinsed off. A few brands like Inveda cleansing oil do have antioxidants and fragrance in them.

Cleansing oils help melt down stubborn, long wear makeup and silicone based waterproof sunscreen. It usually binds to the oils on your skin, makeup, and other impurities. When rinsed off with water, the oil emulsifies and turns into a milky texture and removes the impurities along with it. This leaves the skin clean and refreshed.

HOW TO USE CLEANSING OIL

Take one pump of cleansing oil to your palm. You do not need to wet your face. Apply the oil and massage gently. Continue for a minute or two for best results. Wet your face, now the cleansing oil will start to emulsify and turn milky. Keep massaging. Rinse your face after a minute. If you are doing the double cleansing method which I advise, Follow up with a gentle cleanser to remove all the remaining residue from your skin.

FRAGRANCE

The cleansing oil has a pleasant scent which does not linger. Despite having a sensitive nose and being prone to headaches, I did not experience any discomfort. It did not irritate my skin at all. Since I have sensitive skin, I prefer fragrance free products, but this cleansing oil proved to be an exception in terms of both its scent and its compatibility with my skin.

CONSISTENCY

The Inveda cleansing oil has a thin consistency and spreads quite easily.

MY EXPERIENCE

Skin Type – Normal Sensitive

The Inveda cleansing oil works really well with just one pump for my face and neck. I usually wear only eyeliner or kajal daily. After massaging the oil, it easily removes all my stubborn waterproof makeup and sunscreen. This is a better experience compared to using Bioderma makeup remover and Garnier micellar water, which take more time and effort to completely remove eye makeup. I usually gently press the cotton pad for a minute and swipe multiple times to remove eye makeup which in turn leaves my sensitive skin feeling sore and red. It was not good in the long run and might cause premature lines and wrinkles.

As I mentioned earlier, even though Inveda cleansing oil contains artificial fragrance, it did not irritate my skin. I have been doing my facial massages during the double cleansing for years which saves time and works well for me. Note that I did experience some stinging and redness in my eyes when the oil accidentally got into them. I admit it was my fault for peeking during the process.

The Inveda cleansing oil leaves no oily residue and does not cause dryness, which is a plus. I do follow it up with a second cleanser which is my go-to Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser. After double cleansing, my skin feels refreshed and bright after a tired day exposed to pollution as well as the sun. My skin feels light like it can finally breathe.
