Minimalist Niacinamide 5% + HA 1% Serum review

minimalist niacinamide 5% serum review

Minimalist Niacinamide Serum 5% Review – This daily use serum hydrates, repairs & soothes the skin. The Hyaluronic acid helps the niacinamide get absorbed easily and effectively improves its efficiency.

Best Suited For Dry, Sensitive Skin.

Once your skin gets used to this vitamin B3, You can move on to the 10% serum, as the combination of niacinamide and zinc works a lot better to treat acne.

  • Never use Niacinamide and Vitamin C together at the same time.

Doing this would only lessen their absorption and effectiveness. Use one active in the morning and the other at night time.

SKIN PURGING

In case of purging, use the serum less often and reduce the amount of product you use. There is no need to stop using it altogether.

Your skin will slowly get better after all the junks in the pores are pushed out to the surface.

Use Sunscreen religiously to prevent skin darkening and protect against UV rays.

PRICE

How To Use Minimalist Niacinamide Serum

  1. Patch Test Recommended – If you are completely new to this ingredient, apply the serum and check for any irritation in the next 48 hours.
  2. For the first couple of weeks, use this serum on alternate days only.
  3. Start one active ingredient at a time. (Actives- Retinol, Alpha Arbutin, Salicylic acid and so on)

For sensitive skin like mine, i would recommend to start slow like, once every 2-3 days until your skin gets used to it.

NIGHT ROUTINE

Cleanse and tone your face.

Take 2-3 drops of serum and massage it across your face in small circular motion.

Once it is absorbed completely, Leave it for “2-3 MINUTES” before applying a moisturiser. (IMPORTANT)

When using actives, Follow up with a gentle and soothing non-comedogenic moisturiser like,

Sebamed Clear Face Gel (Normal-oily skin) | Bioderma (For dry sensitive skin) | Physiogel Moisturiser (All skin types) | A-derma (Sensitive skin) | Aloe Vera Gel (No alcohol or fragrance)

These moisturisers helps soothe any inflammation and promote healing.

MY EXPERIENCE

Skin Type – Normal Sensitive Skin

Patch Test – Since i have sensitive skin, i first stopped using any other actives in my skin care routine before trying this serum. No problems there. 🙂

Week 1– No irritation or breakouts on chin/eyebrow.

Week 2 – i started to use the niacinamide serum on alternate days with no other actives at the same time of course.

On to Week 3 – i introduced other actives like alpha arbutin in to my skin care routine without any problems.

Weeks 4 – Skin does appear brighter and the pigmentation has lightened but not gone completely. Older sun tan has faded completely.

Introducing Vitamin C or Alpha arbutin with Niacinamide does help a lot to clear, even out and brighten your skin.

RESULTS

The most important visible result is brighter skin with smooth skin texture. 🥰

Niacinamide and Apha arbutin/Vitamin C is perfect for removing suntan, dull and uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation.

You can see the difference from week 4 only so be patient.

PROS

Good packaging

Visible results in 4 weeks

No irritation or breakout on my normal-sensitive skin

Brightens skin

Lightens sun tan and pigmentation (Best when used with Alpha arbutin serum or Tranexamic acid)

Improves skin texture and even tones the skin

CONS

Nothing

Will I Repurchase?

Yes, because the 10% variant might be too much for my sensitive skin.

Do I Recommend This Serum?

I totally recommend the Minimalist Niacinamide Serum to normal-dry-sensitive skin types.

Now that concludes the Minimalist niacinamide 5% serum review.

  1. Hello
My skin feels tight after applying minimilaist niacinamide 5% serum especially my cheeks nd forehead area
    Can you please help me

    • Hi, Try applying the serum on damp skin, leave it for 2 minutes and follow up with a hydrating moisturiser that suits your skin. Also, Do not use AHA/BHA based cleanser, toner or serum with niacinamide.
Hope that helps. Next time, do mention your skin type too.😇

  2. Never use Niacinamide and Vitamin C together at the same time. And after that you said Introducing Vitamin C or Alpha arbutin with Niacinamide does help a lot to clear, even out and brighten your skin.
    Pls make it clear

    • Hi Kiran, When it comes to using vitamin C and niacinamide in your skincare routine, it’s best to pick either one for the morning and the other for the evening. That way, you’ll get the most out of each ingredient without any potential conflicts. But, if you really want to use both, apply vitamin C first in the morning and wait for about 15 minutes before putting on niacinamide. This way, you can enjoy the benefits of both without any worries. Hope that clarifies your doubt.
