How to use curry leaves for hair growth is what i am going to show you today. There are various methods to use curry leaves and all of them are super easy. The recipes are enough for my waist length hair so you can adjust the recipes as you see fit.

Hair fall has been one of my major concern on and off for the past couple of decades. It is the most common symptom for most of my health issues. Sometimes the reasons are dandruff, dehydration, stress, pregnancy But, the main reason has always been anaemia.

Anaemia does not just mean that there isn’t enough iron in your body. It also suggests the inability of your body to absorb iron. Vitamins like Folic acid(Vitamin B12) and Vitamin D plays a big role in helping our body absorb all the essential nutrients.

This time i decided to give curry leaves a try as it is known for its hair growth properties. Here are the three recipes that i used to deal with my hair fall problem. Include a multivitamin tablet in your diet to avoid deficiency in minerals like iron, copper etc.

How To Make Curry Leaf Powder Drink?

Take a large bunch of curry leaves. (200 gm). You only need the leaves so separate the leaves from the branch.

Leave it in the sun until it dries. I closed the cloth bag and left it hanging on the cloth wire. The leaves will change colour and makes a crunchy sound when crushed within your palms

Grind the dried curry leaves to a powder. I couldn’t grind it to a fine powder like you buy in the stores but this is also fine.

Now Take one tablespoon of this powder. Note that this is for two people, my mom and myself. So Take one teaspoon if it is just for you alone.

Put this to a blender and add one tablespoon of curd to it.

You may add water and salt as required.

Blend it all together.

Now drink this everyday.

It is easy to prepare and does not require much effort. Prepare large batches of curry leaves powder. Continue using this for at least 30 days.

The curry leaves and curd mixture(Minus the salt) can also be used as a hair pack. Keep it on for about half and hour and rinse off. 🙂 It works to condition your hair and treats minor scalp infections.

Curry Leaves Tonic (Hair Oil)

You may also prepare curry leaves hair oil in large quantities using 250 ml of coconut oil. The below ingredients can be added while preparing curry leaves oil. It promotes hair growth, adds lustre and makes your hair visibly darker.

My grandmother swears by this recipe and she has been using this for at least 50 years. She is nearly 80 but her hair is still not fully white. She has grey hair but more like a milder version of salt and pepper style. 🙂

Optional ingredients – 

  • Amla(Indian Gooseberry)
  • Hibiscus flower

Now for instant curry leaf oil,

Heat 2 tablespoons of coconut oil in a bowl. Do not let it burn.

When the oil is hot, add curry leaves to it. It will splutter, so be careful.

Switch off the flame when the leaves start turning brown.

Let it cool.

Apply this warm  oil to your scalp and let it sit overnight or for at least four hours before you shampoo.

Curry Leaf Hair Rinse

Take half litre or one litre of water. Keep it on the stove.

Add curry leaves to it.

Now add methi seeds (Fenugreek seeds). You may also add neem leaves if you have any. I have added it here but it is totally optional.

Bring it to a boil.

Let it boil for about 3-4 minutes. The colour of the liquid will change to yellow.

Switch off the flame and let the mixture cool. Strain the liquid.

You may apply this mixture to your hair and keep it for 30 minutes or, Just use it as a hair rinse after shampooing. Keep it for 5 minutes before washing it off.

Doing this keeps the scalp healthy and it also treats minor scalp infections and also gets rid of dandruff.
