Today, I am reviewing the popular Korean skincare product and a cult favourite, Cosrx snail mucin cream, known for its main ingredient, snail mucin. The snail mucin cream is perfect for healing red, irritated skin, revitalizing dull and rough skin, fading dark spots and scars, and finally moisturising dehydrated skin. As someone with super sensitive skin, I cautiously tried this cult favourite and here I am sharing my experience.
If you have sensitive skin like me, it is advisable to do a patch test before use, as some people may be allergic to snail mucin.

The Cosrx snail mucin cream is commonly available in tub packaging in many countries, although it is also offered in tube form. The tub packaging can feel unhygienic when using your fingers to scoop out the product, and it used to include a white spatula, but as far as I know, it no longer does.
TEXTURE
The Cosrx snail mucin cream has a weird slimy gel-like texture. It does spread easily and the slimy feeling does fade away in a couple of minutes. The texture is so lightweight that it sinks into the skin beautifully without feeling greasy. A little goes a long way, so it lasts quite a long time.
FRAGRANCE
This product does not contain any artificial fragrance and hence is suitable for even sensitive skin unless you are allergic to snail mucin. As I mentioned before, A patch test is recommended before going full face with this product.
SNAIL MUCIN
Infused with 92% of snail mucin, this cream glides onto the skin and builds a moisture barrier to plump, hydrate and soothe skin.
Snail mucin has antioxidants which help in wound healing while also preventing the breakdown of collagen. The breakdown of collagen is what causes the signs of ageing like fine lines and wrinkles. Consistent use of this cream for 4-5 months does reduce fine lines.
BETAINE
Betaine helps regulate the balance of water within skin cells and protects proteins from damage. It not only provides skin protection and moisturization but also adds a pleasant feel to skincare products.
PANTHENOL
Panthenol, also called pro-vitamin B5 is a humectant that helps keep the skin moisturized. It attracts and holds onto water and also supports the lipid production which is essential for a healthy skin barrier.
SODIUM HYALURONATE
Sodium hyaluronate can bind up to 1000 times its own weight in water which is why it works in plumping and soothing the skin.
REVIEW
SKIN TYPE – Normal Sensitive
The Cosrx snail mucin does hydrate my skin by itself in the hot humid summers While I do need to use a heavy moisturiser over this during the winter season like Bioderma or Venisia max. I believe this to be the case with those with dry skin as well.
Although this product has a unique texture, once you get used to it, it feels totally fine. My skin feels soft, smooth and glowy instantly upon application. This does not feel sticky at all even though it has a slimy texture and gets absorbed without leaving any residue.
Whenever my skin is angry, this product helps calm down the redness and the warm sensation that comes with the irritation. Since I have sensitive skin, this product and Physiogel redness relief are my go-to products to soothe and repair the damage I have done.
