5 Best Medicated Anti Dandruff Shampoo in India

Scalpe Plus Anti-dandruff Shampoo Review

Dandruff occurs when dead skin cells on the scalp stick together due to the presence of oils. It is often accompanied by intense itching and can potentially contribute to acne and hair loss. It’s important to note that using an anti-dandruff shampoo can sometimes lead to a dry scalp, which can cause itching. To combat this, it is crucial to moisturize your scalp after shampooing. Finally, to prevent dandruff from recurring, it is advisable to use the medicated anti dandruff shampoo once every three days for a period of four weeks. Afterward, you can switch to using it once a week as maintenance therapy. This routine will help minimize the chances of dandruff coming back. For the shampoo to be effective, it is recommended to leave it on your scalp for approximately three minutes before rinsing. Additionally, incorporating a hydrating hair mask into your routine once a week can help prevent dryness.

When it comes to dealing with dandruff, a commonly recommended approach is to use a shampoo containing specific ingredients. Some of the proven anti-dandruff ingredients to look for are Ketoconazole, Zinc Pyrithione, Selenium Sulphide, and Salicylic acid. These ingredients have demonstrated effectiveness in combating dandruff and can be found in various dandruff-fighting shampoos. By incorporating a shampoo containing one of these ingredients into your hair care routine, you can effectively address dandruff concerns and promote a healthier scalp.

In this post, I will focus solely on dermatologist-recommended medicated anti-dandruff shampoos that I have used over the past 17 years. Here we go.

WHAT CAUSES DANDRUFF?

Dandruff can be caused by various factors. One common cause is the overproduction of sebum, the natural oil on the scalp. Stress can also contribute to dandruff formation. Additionally, changes in the environment, leading to dry skin, can be a trigger. Skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis are known to cause dandruff as well. Allergies to hair dye and hair products can also result in flaky scalp. The frequency of shampooing can play a role, as both excessive and insufficient shampooing can contribute to dandruff. Lastly, yeast and fungal infections on the scalp can cause dandruff to develop. Understanding these different causes can help identify the best approach for effectively managing dandruff.
