How Often Should We Use A Scrub?
One to two times and not more than that.
Do not scrub more than 1-2 times a week as it may result in darker skin, breakouts, irritation, redness and decrease in cell turn over rate.
How Long Should We Scrub?
Scrub anywhere between one minute to 90 seconds. Scrub mildly and massage gently for longer periods rather than scrubbing too harshly and too frequently.
My Experience
Skin type – Normal Sensitive
I have been using this for more than 7 years. This might be my third or fourth tub. I already use a chemical scrub that has been already reviewed, AHA Glow Gel. Hence i do not use physical exfoliators/scrubs because it might be too harsh for my sensitive skin.
Chemical exfoliators does help stimulate collagen production, slough off dead skin cells, remove tan , brightens and tightens my skin. I use it once a week 🙂
The Biotique papaya scrub is beige in colour and has a thick consistency. The granules are black in colour and are neither too small nor too large as to make your skin sore. It does help remove dead skin cells and blackheads.
This scrub works well as a body scrub and helps remove tan on hands and feet.
The Biotique papaya scrub does not make your skin dry. But there aren’t any instant tan removal effects. At least not in my case. After scrubbing, i leave it on as a face pack for 15-20 minutes before washing off. If you have older tan you may have to use the face scrub multiple times to get rid of it completely.
Biotique Papaya Scrub Side Effects
There is a burning sensation near my nose area and upper lips. It did not irritate my sensitive skin though. The area just felt numb for some time. I get this exact reaction on my skin towards all their face packs too. 🙁 I am not too sure whether it is good or bad for my skin in the long run.
Extremely sensitive skin should avoid this face scrub and go for other mild scrubs. Chemical exfoliants are best suited for this skin types.
You can use this as a scrub twice a week. If you are using this to remove tan, it would be better to use this as a daily face pack (without scrubbing). 🙂 I have tried this method for a week when i got badly tanned years ago.
