Sweet Potato Face Mask
If you are going to use it for a week or more, then it is convenient to blend the sweet potatoes to a fine paste and refrigerate. It stays fresh for about a week.
- Mashed sweet potato – 2 tablespoon
- Honey – 1 teaspoon
- Lemon juice/curd – 1 teaspoon
- Cinnamon powder – a pinch (Do a patch test first)
Cinnamon powder may not suit every skin type. So it is recommended to do a patch test to avoid skin irritation on your face.
Cinnamon powder is most beneficial for oily, acne prone problem skin.
Use this face mask twice a week and leave it on for 10-15 minutes.
Skin Type – Normal Sensitive
Those who have sensitive skin like me can skip cinnamon altogether or add a tiny amount to the face mask and do a patch test behind the ear first.
This face mask helps exfoliate dead skin cells effectively without irritating the skin. It does helps calm down bumpy or textured skin too. On consistent use, The vitamin A and Vitamin C in this face pack work to reduce the appearance of fine lines, and crows feet. I could see that it certainly minimised my pore size and made my skin look more on the flawless side.
Cinnamon works in plumping the skin and thereby visibly reducing fine lines. They also help with skin repairing and wound healing. You have to use it for a month to see changes in fine lines though.
This face mask is beneficial to those who have acne and pimples. Not only does sweet potato moisturise the skin, it also help fade the blemishes on your skin. Over time, you can see changes in your skin complexion and texture.
I did not see major changes in the first use so do not expect it to instantly solve all your skin problems. You can feel your skin become soft and supple after rinsing the mask off. My face also looks calm and healthy. There is a tiny bit of brightening effect which unfortunately is temporary.
I used it thrice a week for one month to get results.
If you do not have time, Just mash sweet potato and mix it with honey to make a simple face mask. You would still get the anti ageing benefits.
Try this face mask and let me know how it goes for you.
I will be back with another homemade recipe next week.
Have A Great Week Ahead. 🙂
