ckHello there beauties, Today we are going to discuss all about suncreen sticks. I have been using them for a while now. I have made some fantastic purchases, but I have also had some regrettable ones where I ended up wasting money, hence this post. Hope you find this article useful in making your decision.
Sunscreen sticks are not the best choice for your main sun protection For complete sun protection, it is advisable to use a lotion, cream, or gel based sunscreen as your primary choice. This is because there is a possibility of missing certain areas when using a sunscreen stick.
HOW TO USE A SUNSCREEN STICK
To protect your skin effectively with a sunscreen stick, swipe it 3-4 times on the area for good coverage.
NOTE
Always remember to wipe off the surface of the sunscreen stick after applying to prevent any potential contamination.
Be sure to double cleanse your skin at the end of the day for a thorough cleansing routine.
BEAUTY OF JOSEON SUNSCREEN STICK
My most frequently repurchased sun stick, The Beauty of Joseon Sunscreen Stick, goes on smoothly without stickiness or leaving a white residue. It minimizes makeup transfer, which is great. It is a bit smaller than I expected (18g), and while it is lightweight, you can still lightly feel it on your face. I personally prefer the Isntree alternative for its lighter feel, but the affordability of this one makes it my go to sun stick. It does not make my skin look oily, is non irritating, unscented, and has soothing ingredients. Then again, it might not be the best choice for individuals with dry skin.
ISNTREE SUNSCREEN STICK
The ISNTREE Sunscreen Stick (22g) comes in practical teardrop packaging, making it easy to carry. It is fragrance free, offering strong sun protection with five UV filters while remaining lightweight and easy to apply. It leaves a non oily, non sticky, and matte finish, and it is gentle on the skin, avoiding irritations and breakouts. Plus, it includes antioxidants, skin soothing, brightening, and antiaging ingredients for added skincare benefits.
There are a couple of reasons I am hesitant to repurchase this sun stick. It is relatively expensive, and it contains controversial UV filters like OMC and homosalate, as well as potential triggers for fungal acne like olive fruit oil.
ABIB SUNSCREEN STICK
The Abib Sunscreen Stick has an elegant curvy design making it easy to apply even in hard to reach areas of the face, and it does not feel heavy or like a film on the skin, going on clear. This does have green tea, centella, ceramide, aloe, and cucumber which helps soothe the skin and is perfect for dry sensitive skin.
Abib sun stick leaves zero white cast and does not trigger breakouts or skin irritations. It is gentle on the eyes, with a non sticky finish that pairs well with makeup. It is non greasy with no added fragrance. If I have to mention its downside, it comes in a small size and carries a higher price tag when compared to other options.
TOCOBO SUNSCREEN STICK
The Tocobo sunscreen stick is a top pick for several reasons. It feels incredibly lightweight on the skin, is vegan, hypoallergenic, and cruelty-free. The mild scent adds a nice touch, it does not smudge makeup either. This sunscreen stick leaves absolutely zero white cast and has a non oily and non sticky matte finish. Note that this sunscreen stick contains artificial fragrance so it may not suit those with extremely sensitive skin.
BENTON SUNSCREEN STICK
The Benton Mineral Sunscreen does have a slight initial white cast which typically fades within 15 minutes. While you can blend it in using your fingers, doing so goes against the idea of using a sun stick. Otherwise, It provides a matte finish and contains mineral filters, making it a good choice for all skin types. It leaves minimal residue and does not leave the face feeling greasy or shiny. The Benton sun stick is unscented and includes Oryza sativa, which can brighten the skin. It is also water resistant.
MINIMALIST SUNSCREEN STICK
The minimalist sunscreen stick is budget friendly, making sun protection accessible to a wide range of consumers. It contains safe UV filters, making it a suitable option, especially for pregnant individuals or those with sensitive skin. The product glides smoothly with a creamy texture, and leaves a dewy finish without any visible white residue. It is too dewy almost oily on my normal skin. Otherwise, it is gentle on the skin, causing no breakouts or irritations, and has undergone rigorous laboratory testing in Korea to ensure its safety and effectiveness.
The stick has a round shape making it challenging to reach all parts of the face effectively. People with oily skin may find it greasy, and finally, this sunscreen is not water or sweat-resistant.
THANK YOU FARMER SUNSCREEN STICK
The Thank You Farmer sunscreen stick effortlessly glides onto the skin without any pulling or tugging and has a matte finish. It is gentle on the skin, causing no breakouts or irritations, and it does not interfere with makeup once applied. This sunscreen does not leave any white residue and imparts an incredibly lightweight feel on the skin. It contains centella asiatica, calamine, asiatic acid, and madecassic acid, which contribute to its effectiveness in sun protection and skincare.
SCINIC – ENJOY SUPER ACTIVE AIRY SUN STICK
The Scinic suncreen stick has a light weight texture and provides a non greasy shiny finish. It is easy to apply and has a pleasant fragrance. The sun stick is really gentle on the eyes and does not cause breakouts or skin irritations. It performs really well over makeup which is another bonus point.
SUNTIQUE I’M DERMA RELIEF SUNSTICK
The Suntique Sunscreen Stick is conveniently offered in a 15g stick form. It contains aloe vera, centella asiatica for skin soothing, Madecassoside for healing and anti-inflammatory properties, and three types of hyaluronic acid for excellent skin hydration.
This sunscreen stick has a silky smooth texture, making application a breeze. It does not leave any greasy or white residue and effortlessly glides onto the skin without leaving behind a white cast. This sunscreen stick can be applied comfortably over makeup without any inconvenience.
SHISEIDO SUNSCREEN STICK
The Shiseido Clear Sunscreen Stick provides easy application with its smooth texture. It is a transparent sun stick suitable for swimming and beach activities, using safe UV filters. It is not greasy and will not make your skin feel heavy. This sun stick includes special WetForce and HeatForce technology, which helps enhance its effectiveness in different conditions.
While it contains fragrance, it is not particularly noticeable. It can be comfortably worn over makeup, and also provides water resistance for up to 80 minutes, ensuring reliable sun protection during water related activities.
ARE SUNSCREEN STICKS EFFECTIVE?
Sunscreen sticks can indeed be effective when applied correctly, much like other sunscreen formulations. It is essential to choose a stick offering broad-spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB rays and to consider factors like skin type and water resistance. While sunscreen sticks are convenient for touch-ups, they may not provide the same coverage as lotions or creams, so it’s advisable to use them alongside other sun protection measures such as hats, sunglasses, and seeking shade.
