My Experience

Lakme Sun Expert Fair Sunscreen Lotion is a cost effective sunscreen that helps lighten tan. This sunscreen however is not a broad spectrum sunscreen which simply means it does not provide protection against all the rays of the sun.

Lakme sunscreen lotion contains,

• Lactic acid which is not good for sensitive skin.
• Stearic acid and Palmitic acid causes fungal acne and has a comedogenic rating of 2. 

If you have a bad history with these ingredients, do not go for this sunscreen. There are better choices available for you.

• Niacinamide and lactic acid in this sunscreen provide skin brightening and anti ageing benefits. Lactic acid also helps to gently exfoliate and seal moisture.

The spf factor in the sunscreen is too low (24++) and hence it is preferable not to go out during the peak hours that is, 10 am to 4 pm. This lotion does not prevent sun tan in case of intense UV rays. But you can use this at home.

Hence it does a good job in brightening and moisturising the skin.

But as a sunscreen it lacks the spf factor which should have been at least 30+++. 🙁

I used this for about a year at home and it definitely helped lighten my sun tan. The heat from the kitchen and light from electronic devices  affect our skin. This may result in our skin becoming dull and dark. Hence experts advise us to apply sunscreen 365 days a year.

Because i have sensitive skin which gets tanned easily, I used a water resistant broad spectrum sunscreen with a higher spf when going outside. I did get itching here and there on my face when using this particular sunscreen but i conveniently chose to ignore it as it was working wonders in lightening my tan.

Lakme sunscreen lotion is easily absorbed and did not make my skin greasy. It does moisturise properly and is comfortable on the skin. But, extremely sensitive skin may be allergic to it. Skin may look slightly inflamed like an allergic reaction. It does go away once you wash off the product.

Although this sunscreen has a fragrance, it fades away quickly.
