HOW TO USE

To incorporate the Deconstruct exfoliating serum into your skincare routine, follow these steps:

  1. Start with cleansed skin. After cleansing your face, pat it dry gently.
  2. Dispense 2-3 drops of the serum onto your fingertips or the palm of your hand.
  3. Apply the serum to your face, focusing on areas that require exfoliation or specific attention. Gently pat and press the serum onto your skin, allowing it to absorb fully.
  4. Follow up with a suitable moisturizer. Applying a moisturizer after the serum helps to lock in hydration and keep your skin nourished.
  5. Lastly, remember to apply sunscreen. This step is crucial to protect your skin from harmful UV rays, especially since the exfoliating effects of the serum can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight.

It is recommended to use the serum during the evening, as exfoliating products are generally better suited for nighttime use. Additionally, to prevent overexfoliation, limit your usage to 3-4 days a week.

By following these instructions, you can make the most of the Deconstruct exfoliating serum in your skincare routine while ensuring that your skin remains moisturized and protected.

MY EXPERIENCE

Skin Type – Normal Sensitive

I wanted to share my personal experience with the Deconstruct beginner’s exfoliating serum. As someone with sensitive skin, I took the necessary precautions by conducting a patch test and waiting for 48 hours to ensure it wouldn’t cause any negative reactions. Luckily, my skin had no adverse response, so I proceeded to incorporate the serum into my routine.

In the beginning, I started using the serum twice a week to be cautious. After about 1.5 months of consistent use, I felt comfortable increasing it to three times a week without experiencing any problems. However, I’ve decided not to push it to four times a week, as I believe that might be too much for my sensitive skin and could potentially lead to unwanted darkening.

One of the things I appreciate about this serum is that it doesn’t cause any warm, burning, or tingling sensations on my sensitive skin. Its gentle formulation makes it perfect for beginners and those with sensitive skin like mine.

I’m quite satisfied with how my skin has been reacting to this product. It hasn’t caused any irritation or discomfort. It’s reassuring to know that the serum is designed to be gentle on the skin, and it has been effective in providing exfoliation without any adverse effects.

As time goes on and my skin becomes more accustomed to this serum, I might consider trying a higher concentration of AHA/BHA products, like the Deconstruct Exfoliating Serum 18% AHA + 2% BHA, or similar options. But for now, I’m content with the results I’m getting from the beginner’s serum

RESULTS

Deconstruct exfoliating serum review

I must say, the morning after using the lactic acid serum for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised. My skin appeared noticeably brighter, which hadn’t been the case with any other products I had previously used. It was definitely a moment for a happy dance! 8)

While the pigmentation around my mouth has lightened to some extent, it hasn’t completely faded. For this reason, I continue to alternate between the lactic acid serum and the Tranexamic acid serum from Minimalist, which I’ve previously reviewed.

In comparison to Minimalist’s products like Tranexamic acid, alpha-arbutin, niacinamide, or Vitamin C serum, I find that the results from the lactic acid serum are slightly faster. However, it’s important to note that this serum doesn’t work miracles in terms of lightening your skin tone dramatically. Instead, it smoothes, brightens, and evens out the skin by a shade or perhaps even two.

Interestingly, I’ve noticed that even using a mild oatmeal scrub once a week alongside a chemical exfoliant tends to darken my skin. It seems that too much exfoliation isn’t suitable for my sensitive skin, which is quite disappointing. However, I understand that this experience may vary depending on individual skin types.

Due to this counterproductive effect, I have completely stopped using physical exfoliants altogether. I’m curious to see how my skin will fare in the long term without relying on them.

To summarize my experience, the lactic acid serum has brought about positive changes in my skin, with noticeable brightening effects. While it hasn’t completely faded pigmentation, it has improved the overall texture and tone of my skin. It’s important to find the right balance of exfoliation for your specific skin type, as too much can lead to adverse effects. Overall, I’m satisfied with the results I’ve achieved so far.

NOT SEEING VISIBLE RESULTS?

If you have been using higher concentrations of AHA/BHA exfoliating serums and are looking for more potent results, it’s possible that the Deconstruct beginner’s exfoliating serum may not be suitable for your needs. This serum is specifically designed to be mild and gentle, making it ideal for beginners and individuals with sensitive skin.

Considering your skin is accustomed to higher concentrations, the effects of this milder serum may not be as noticeable or impactful for you. In that case, it may be more beneficial for you to explore other exfoliating serums with higher concentrations that align better with your skin’s requirements.

The Deconstruct beginner’s exfoliating serum is specifically formulated to provide a gentle introduction to exfoliation and may not deliver the same intensity or visible results as higher-concentration products. It is best suited for those who are new to exfoliation or have sensitive skin that requires a milder approach.

Ultimately, the choice of serum should be based on your individual needs and preferences, considering your previous experience and desired level of exfoliation.

DO NOT OVER USE

It’s important to note that even if you don’t immediately see visible results, the peeling serum is still working on your skin. The effects of the serum can continue to manifest even days after application.

It’s crucial to give the serum ample time to work its magic. Results may take time to become noticeable, and it’s recommended to wait for approximately 28 days before making a final judgment on its effectiveness for your skin.

However, it’s essential to exercise caution and not overuse chemical peels. Using them too frequently or excessively can potentially compromise the integrity of your skin barrier. It’s vital to follow the recommended usage instructions and not exceed the recommended frequency.

Overusing chemical peels can lead to increased sensitivity, dryness, irritation, and even damage to the skin. To maintain a healthy skin barrier, it’s crucial to strike a balance between exfoliation and allowing your skin sufficient time to recover and regenerate.
