We are going to do a three day treatment like this,

  • Day 1 – Henna Hair Mask
  • Day 2 – Indigo Hair Mask
  • And, Day 3 – Oil Massage and shampoo

This hair mask does soften your hair but it may also cause dryness and that is why it recommended to do oil massage after henna/indigo mask.

NOTE

Shampoo your hair the day before you start with the henna-indigo treatment to make sure your hair and scalp is clean.

Use an iron vessel to make henna mask. This brings out and  intensifies the colour of henna and gives better results.

Difference Between One Step And Two Step Henna Indigo Treatment

The 2-step henna and indigo treatment mask gives jet black hair while, the one step process leaves your hair in shades of brown.

  • Warm water – 1 cup
  • Salt – 2 Teaspoon

indigo and salt

NOTE

1. Good Quality Indigo Powder

Say NO To Dark Green/Brown/Greyish Shades of Indigo Powder.

Dark green or grey/ brown shades of Indigo powder will not release any colour as it is already oxidised.

Use good quality Indigo as i have shown here. Any other colour is unacceptable.

Choose a trustworthy brand.

2. Apply Indigo within 30 minutes of mixing it. (Super Important Guys!!!)

Again, the colour will not bind to your hair as time goes by. And, all your work will go to waste.

I learnt this the hard way and wasted my time and effort.

3.Divide, Mix And Apply In Sections (For Long Hair)

If you have long hair, mix 100 grams first and apply it to a section of your hair.

Now, mix the next 100 grams with warm water and proceed with the next section.

This is to prevent both product wastage and precious time.

    • Sorry for the delay.
Yes, salt helps release the dye and increase the intensity of the colour. It works better in binding the colour to your hair and covers grey hair to jet black.

    • Hi Prakash, On average, with daily hair washing, you can expect the indigo colour to remain vibrant for approximately 3 weeks after which it starts to fade. In my mom’s case, the henna-indigo hair colour typically lasts for about 3-4 weeks with daily hair wash. However, my husband, who washes his hair only once a week, enjoys the colour lasting for more than 6 weeks.
To help prolong the colour, you can use a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner specifically formulated for colour-treated hair or go for co-washing. Additionally, washing your hair with cool or lukewarm water can help prevent the colour from fading as quickly.
