Homemade Amla Oil For Grey Hair And Hair Growth – Today i am back with an age old recipe that not only helps with premature greying of the hair but also helps thicken your mane. Many of us suffer from hair loss due to various reasons, most common of them being low haemoglobin in the blood, Hormonal imbalances, or dandruff & scalp infections.

Make sure to resolve these internal health problems either by supplements or medications if needed. Also, make it a priority to have a well balanced diet and at least 12 glasses of water. This is super important for healthy skin and hair.

Your body needs iron, zinc and biotin rich foods on a daily basis along with a solid 7-8 hour sleep to help regenerate our cells.

HOW TO MAKE AMLA OIL WITH DRIED AMLA | POWDER?

If you are using dry ingredients whether they are dried herbs or powders, you need to boil them in water to make a concentrated decoction. Cook on low-medium flame until it reduces to 1/4th of the original amount.

Standard Ayurvedic Formula
1 part of dried herbs/powders – 16 parts water (1:16 ratio), cook and reduce it to 1/4th amount.

Add this decoction to coconut oil and cook until all the water evaporates.

📌Aloe vera too contains antioxidants like vitamin A, B12, B9, C, E which helps promote hair growth. Aloe vera gel does help with scalp infections and its symptoms like itching. It also encourages cell repair and keeps your scalp and hair healthy.

📌Neem leaves helps treat and prevent parasitic and scalp infections like head lice. They do help reduce frizz by closing the cuticles of the hair strands so it reflects light, which makes it look so shiny. Neem leaves is also known to prevent and reduce greying of the hair.

📌Hibiscus flowers has anthocyanins(antioxidants) which helps moisturise and conditions the hair nicely and also provides additional benefits like,

Prevent premature greying, encourages hair growth, reduces dandruff and split ends, all the while leaving your hair soft and tangle free. Hibiscus also stimulates new hair growth and is highly beneficial in cases of hair fall and balding.

I have mentioned coconut oil as an optional ingredient BUT if you can, do not skip it.😇

HOW TO MAKE AMLA OIL FOR HAIR GROWTH

Amla hair oil recipe is as follows,

  • Amla – 10
  • Aloe vera leaf- 1 leaf cut into small pieces
  • Neem leaves – 5 sprigs or 1/2 cup
  • Hibiscus flower – 2
  • Coconut milk – 1 whole coconut (Optional)
  • Coconut oil – 250ml

Do Not Use Extra Water For This Recipe.

Assuming that you are using all fresh ingredients,

📌Add the deseeded amla flesh, aloe vera leaf including the green outer potion, neem leaves, hibiscus flowers to a blender. You can add little bit of coconut milk(If your are using) or coconut oil to assist the blending process.

Usually you need not add any additional liquid to the mixture as aloe vera juice from the leaf by itself is sufficient for blending the ingredients.

Take an IRON vessel and add 250ml of oil to it. Add the herb mixture and cook on low-medium flame.👇

HOW DO I KNOW THE AMLA OIL IS DONE?

In the beginning stages, the oil will look cloudy like a juice and greenish in colour. As time goes by, the oil will start to clear up and the herb mixture or whatever is left of it settles to the bottom of the vessel.

The end product is greenish in colour and smells just like a herbal oil.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE AMLA OIL?

It takes around 50 minutes to 1 hour to make this herbal oil.

DO I HAVE TO KEEP STIRRING THE WHOLE TIME?

Of course not, you just have to stir the oil once every 10 minutes or so.

Just remember to keep the flame on low-medium. We do not want to smoke the whole thing.

HOW TO USE AMLA OIL FOR HAIR?

Warm the amla oil.

Apply to your hair and scalp.

Gently massage for 10 minutes.

HOW LONG DO YOU LEAVE AMLA OIL IN YOUR HAIR?

Wrap a hot water towel round your head and wait for 30minutes-1hour

Shampoo and condition as usual.

If you are comfortable, You can certainly leave the oil overnight too. I used to do this when i was younger but now, just a couple of hours in and the headache kicks in.

HOW OFTEN CAN WE USE AMLA OIL?

2 times a week is enough to make sure you get all the benefits of the oil.
